Spring holiday offer Lake Garda SPECIAL SPRINGSpend your spring holidays on Lake Garda and take advantage of our offers for a short stay in full relaxation!
Thanks to the large numbers of on and off road tracks found around Lake Garda, mountain biking is one of the most popular sports of this area.
All the main areas of the Lake have places where it is possible to rent bikes to go and discover the mountains of the Gardesana. In particular, you should try the zone around Riva, Arco and Torbole and the routes over Monte Brione, the ascent at Lake Ledro, and, for those with lots of puff and who like to go up hills, there is the famous Monte Tremalzo with its breathtaking descent on the old military road leading to Limone. From Riva to Tremalzo by mountain bike
Leaving Riva del Garda (70metres above sea level), you climb up on the old Ponale Road (closed to traffic and with beautiful panoramic views) ending up where it joins the main road to Valle di Ledro (400m – from here, watch out for the cars!). Follow this road to Molina (638m) eventually reaching Lago di Ledro (655m).
Here, the road levels off a bit and continuing on this road you go along the shores of this lake, then through Pieve, Bezzecca, Tiarno di Sotto and Tiarno di Sopra, the little lake “Ampola” to the Pass of the same name. Turn to the left and follow signs to Tremalzo.
From here the ascent gets steeper again and continues like this for 13km. When you get to the Riffugio Garda at 1700m, you can stop for refreshments and at this point you leave the asphalt road.
After a further 1.5km you arrive at the tunnel ‘Dos Marogna’ which is the highest point of this route at 1840m. The invigorating descent from here is made on an old military road with tunnels and hairpin bends and has wonderful views of the Ledro valley and Lake Garda. Reaching the Passo Nota (1200m) you keep on the left and follow the climbs and descents going over the Bestana Pass (1274m), the ‘Bocca dei Fortini’ (1245m), ‘Baita Segalla’ (1250m – another refreshment point), the Guil Pass (1208m), finally reaching the Rochetta Pass (1130m).
The road after a while becomes a path. Now some difficult tracks (follow signs to 422) will take you on a forest road (960m), turn to the right and follow signs for Mala Palaer and then Pregasina (532m) where the asphalt road starts again. Continue your descent and, before the tunnel for Val de Ledro, turn to the right finding yourself on another road above the old Ponale to get back to Riva (70m).
